Hello Brides and Grooms- hope you are all keeping well? I’ve spent the past couple of afternoons checking rearrangements of dates in the file and diary - I think most of you that have postphoned are sorted for now, but it’s given me a few things to consider for you all, so if you don’t mind I’ve listed them below- Some weekends are going to be extremely busy and I’ve done my best to fit you all in with previous bookings and peak floral dates such as Christmas, Valentines and Mother’s Day so maybe there will have to be a bit of flexibility with your requirements.
If you are thinking of postphoning but haven’t done so and have some dates in mind please let me know ASAP. If you are changing the season your getting married in it can alter the flowers that are available but don’t worry I will advise you of lovely seasonal alternatives, so it needn’t be a bad thing at all, perhaps a good excuse to look at more flower pictures!
If you have rearranged your date and haven’t let me know please do as I’d hate to let anyone down!
If you are a new bride or groom I am taking new bookings and will let you know if I have availability but have a list of other florists I can recommend if I’m not free.
I’m working mornings as a cleaner temporarily and we are attempting to homeschool the boys and get the computer myself so fitting in admins being difficult - I’ve converted a corner of the storeroom to a mini office for now!
I hope that all sounds ok and we’ll see how long this goes on for but do remember whenever you go get married it will be super special for everyone there Xxlaura

This photo was taken this morning by @peter.photo_cumbria , Peter lives in town and photographs weddings, families and CrossFit along with his day job as a chef. At the moment as he can’t do that , he has spent the week photographing key workers at their homes from his car at a 2m distance .
In a slight change from my usual job I’m a temp cleaner at Aldi in town in the mornings (I worked there before we had the shop).
Peter has undertaken this job and I think it’s been a fascinating record of this current time and he’s captured life at the moment perfectly - key workers with their families or colleagues at their work or at home. Thank you Peter.
Follow his Facebook or Instagram for the full series and if you’re local see who you recognise!

Im starting my Instagram introductions about our shop. Here are a few people that work for me flowers wise. Firstly Mary- she is a retired florist (amongst other jobs) and used to work at Kerrs in town years ago, she also lives very near the shop and when she passes the shop always waves or pops in to check what’s coming up . She is great at wiring, sweeping up, good company, loves a challenge, very particular, takes lots of photos and loves a trip out to the various venues we go to! Mary keeps saying she’s going to retire but admits she enjoys the work so much she hasn’t! You’ll know Mary when she’s with me as she always wearing her trademark jumpers.
Next up is India, whose my sister , she has a full time job with the National Trust and helps deliver wedding flowers on Saturdays , despite not being a florist she has plenty of floral and wedding knowledge that she can use when carrying out the very important job of delivering wedding flowers. She also has a new puppy called Margo !
Then there’s Len , who delivers bouquets , he’s a friend and customer whose led the most interesting life working all over the world and at the moment is our delivery driver.
Others that I haven’t pictures of are Laura A who helps out with wedding deliveries when needed she is also a yoga teacher and works for Dalefoot Composts!

After a long and difficult few weeks and the knowledge I won’t be producing many flowers for the next few months, I think I’m going to do something on here to introduce you all to the people, customers and suppliers that contribute to our business - something I’ve wanted to do for ages but haven’t got round to!
